Products description
This magnificent antique tin box from around 1900 (Historicism / Victorian Era) is an exquisite example of the high-end advertising art of the turn of the century and impresses with its rare design on four small embossed feet. The lid shows an elaborate color lithography with three young ladies in stately clothing in an idyllic scenery while the side walls are printed with a rich ornamentation, which underline the noble character of this tin.
Originally designed as high-quality packaging for biscuits or confectionery this tin was executed as a lockable cassette in order to be reused as a jewelry box or letter casket after the consumption of the content. The object is in an authentic used condition with a charming age patina, which is characterized by scratches in the graphics and small oxidation spots which credibly documents the over 120-year history of the piece. It must be pointed out that the integrated lock is defective and no key is present which however does not impair the decorative effect of this historical collector's item.
With its harmonious dimensions and the detailed depiction of stately fashion is this tin box a wonderful decorative object for lovers of Shabby Chic and antique shop advertising. Signs of use corresponding to the age; dimensions: 22,5 x 16 x 25 cm
