Antique devotional art, Our Lady of Mariazell, wax relief in display case, 19th century

Antique convent work (Klosterarbeit) from the late 19th century depicting the famous Grace Mother of Mariazell (Our Lady of Mariazell). The detailed figure of the Madonna in her characteristic cloak with crown and the Christ Child is crafted from fine wax and artfully arranged inside a deep display box. The scene is framed by intricate wirework made of golden bouillon wire as well as delicate trimmings, fully set with radiant glass beads.

The black wooden frame with a fine gold profile inner trim measures approximately 17 x 19.3 cm. The piece has been professionally restored in the course of its history and is in very good condition with age-appropriate signs of wear. A special feature is the backside, which is decorated and pasted with a historical, handwritten family letter in the Hungarian language from the 1930s, giving this sacred object a unique, historical character. A wonderful collector's item for lovers of historical devotional pictures and religious folk art objects.
