Products description

Glass object with unusual design; painted - harvest scenes with passing stagecoach, with stepped rim and 12-fold facet cut, gold coloured rims and patterns, heavy abrasion at the bottom, here only traces of the gilding can be seen; this object is probably a painted part of an intermediate gilded glass, closer examination the insertion glass of an intermediate gilded cup with offset putty joint where the outer faceted glass layer is missing; possibly a blank, or the outer glass part once came loose; a hint to this assumption can be found in a digital book by Walter Spiegl (The Bohemian Intermediate Gold Glasses of the 18th Century - 2001 - History, Technique, Workshops, Artist's Manuscripts; Chapter 2. Manufacturing Techniques / Page 19), a similar object was sold at Christie's where the missing faceted glass layer was also noted (11 Jun 2010 / lot-5328196); the glass was probably made at the end of the 19th century in Bohemia or Silesia. The glass was probably made in Bohemia or Silesia at the end of the 19th century where old baroque glass was made after originals to preserve the old crafts from oblivion; even experts were not sure which period the glass could be from (baroque - historicism); we offer it as a historicism object; the glass cup is in good condition and has no noticeable chipping; a great work of art for collectors of old glass; traces according to age and use; dimensions: the glass is about 3 mm thick - 10.6 cm high and has a diameter of approx. 8.5 cm / weight approx. 260 g
