Two Baltic Amber Necklaces Made of Genuine Amber; Baltics, Mid-twentieth Century
Two elegant amber necklaces from the Baltics (Baltic Sea); coarsely shaped and natural amber beads; honey-colored.
One honey-colored amber necklace braided from five strands; with screw clasp (see photos), total length approximately 45 centimeters (approx. seventy-five grams), and one single-strand amber necklace with light honey-colored stones, with screw clasp (see photos); total length approximately 48 centimeters / approx. twenty grams.
The amber necklaces have been tested for authenticity:
- Salt water bath > Floats in salt water
- The characteristic color is shown under UV light
- The typical resin scent emerges when gently heated
Fossilized tree resin has been one of the oldest and most coveted gemstones since antiquity; great healing powers were attributed to amber even in Roman and Persian times; in the Orient, amber smoke was used to strengthen the spirit; to this day, amber is used as a talisman, healing stone, and gemstone, and enjoys great popularity.
