Products description

Discover a fascinating scientific rarity for passionate collectors. A historical meteoritics & impactites collection box, fitted with genuine Henbury iron meteorites and rare Australite tectites. The ensemble comprises two striking main pieces of the famous Henbury meteorite weighing approx. 61 g and approx. 15 g, as well as 15 smaller meteorite fragments weighing approx. 1 to 2 g each. The case is completed by 4 coveted Australite tectites from the Simpson Desert in South Australia. All objects are stylishly secured within the wooden box and are documented by the historical original labels from the Steinmarkt in the Europa-Center Berlin and Martin Rosser Minerals (Mooloolaba, Queensland). A spectacular complete set with excellent provenance and signs of age on the case that should not be missing from any top-tier meteorite collection.

The Henbury impact occurred approx. 4700 years ago in the Northern Territory in Australia, where a giant nickel-iron meteorite exploded upon entering the atmosphere, creating a field of 12 craters. The tectites from the Simpson Desert, so-called Australites, were formed by the intense heat of a meteorite impact that melted local rock, ejected it into the atmosphere, and allowed it to solidify again as natural quartz glass; age-appropriate signs of wear
