Alpacca Chainmail Purse. Indistinctly Stamped, Germany or Austria, Circa 1900 to 1920

Here we present a wonderful antique chainmail purse (evening bag) crafted from Alpacca. This elegant piece embodies the timeless charm of Art Nouveau and impresses with its fine craftsmanship. The side stamp very indistinctly shows the lettering Alpacca (the letters are recognizable) along with a maker's mark featuring a crown within a rectangle. The elaborately designed frame is decorated with elegant floral ornamentation and features an unengraved coat of arms shield in the center, offering space for an individual engraving. Attached to the frame is a sturdy carrying chain with large chain links, while 5 small metal beads along the bottom rim harmoniously round off the design.

The purse measures approx. 17 x 18,5 cm and weighs approx. 280 g. Aside from a few chain links that have detached near the ends of the frame, the chainmail purse remains in good antique condition.
