Products description

When Ernest Daltroff composed the fragrance Narcisse Noir for the traditional Parisian house of Caron in 1911, he made perfumery history. It was one of the first fragrances to bathe feminine sensuality in a mysterious, almost dark light, a bold departure from the light floral notes of the Belle Époque. The name "Black Narcissus" became the symbol of a new era: a woman who could be simultaneously seductive, independent, and aloof. The scent composition itself was also revolutionary, a sensual interplay of orange blossom, narcissus, and musk, which became one of the most characteristic perfumes of early Modernism.
The Caron Narcisse Noir Flacon (c. 1920s-1930s)
This rare 30 ml bottle dates from the time when perfume was still filled into exquisite glass objects.
Design: The flacon was designed by the famous glass designer Julien Viard for Baccarat. It features the iconic black floral stopper in the shape of a stylized narcissus—the symbol of the scent itself.
Size & Content: The bottle is approximately 5.5 cm high with a 7 cm diameter, corresponding to the 30 ml version. It is slightly more than half full.
Authenticity: The number 130 is hand-engraved on the base, as well as on the stopper, a clear sign that the two parts originally belong together.
Rarity Detail: The gold label is placed on the upper curve of the bottle. Since most known examples feature the label on the bottom, this is a rare production variation that may indicate a later manufacturing period in the 1920s or 1930s.
This is a piece of genuine fragrance history that carries the magic of early French perfumery art, ideal for collectors, design enthusiasts, and all those who appreciate the poetry of bygone eras.
The item shows signs of wear consistent with its age.
Due to the age of the perfume, no guarantee can be given for the quality of the fragrance.
The perfume is offered without a display.
