Products description
Dive into the delicate aesthetic of the Belle Époque with this charming and beautifully preserved antique perfume bottle. This exquisite small glass flacon is a typical example of French perfumery art from approximately 1890 to 1910. The small bottle was designed as a pocket flask or a high-quality sample, which explains its compact size of 9.5 cm in height and the secure cork stopper.
Art Nouveau Design and Scent
Front Label: The label on the belly of the bottle is a small masterpiece of Art Nouveau (Jugendstil). It depicts a graceful lady in a green dress amidst flowers, reflecting the era's ideal of feminine beauty.
Scent: The label on the back, VIOLETTE, confirms the contents. Violet fragrances were immensely popular around the turn of the century and were considered the epitome of elegance.
Quality Mark: The inscription PARFUM SURFIN is likely not a brand name but a historical quality stamp, meaning "Finest Perfume" or "Extrait Perfume," confirming the high concentration of the fragrance.
Origin: The bottle was sold without an explicit manufacturer's name, which was common practice during this time, as perfumeries in Grasse or Paris often used neutral flacons for their Surfin essences.
