Products description

A collector's rarity from the wartime era. This flacon of the fragrance "Bois du Sud" from the house of RIVAL, Paris, is a fascinating piece of perfume history, launched in 1943 amidst the difficult time of World War II. The fragrance name, "Southern Wood," may have symbolized longing and warmth during dark times.
The Wartime Flacon (1943)
Design Contrast: The flacon (8.5 x 9 x 2.5 cm), made of pressed glass with a capacity of approximately 30 to 40 ml, is a masterpiece. Its design—with opulent tendril ornaments and a swirling, cloud-like glass stopper—stands in stark contrast to the austere era of the 1940s, suggesting that Rival reused older, luxurious molds. Such detailed flacons testify to the high artistry of French glass manufacturers.
Content: The flacon is still about half-full with the amber-colored original fragrance. The delicate, gold-colored cord (baudruchage) on the bottle neck is partially preserved.
Collectibility: This rare object is a valuable addition to any sophisticated vintage collection, offering a unique perspective on French luxury production during the war. Due to its age, the content should be treated as a historical aroma.
The item shows signs of wear consistent with its age.
Due to the age of the perfumes, no guarantee can be given for the quality of the fragrance.
The perfumes are offered without a display.
