Products description
This extraordinary 6 piece collection consists of rare accessories for the production of luxurious handbags or caskets. The objects are made of metal and finished with the finest blue guilloche enamel. Part of the fittings is made of solid 935 silver and bears the Austrian hoopoe official hallmark as well as the maker's mark J A. The set includes 2 mechanical clasps with an elegant blue pearl shaped sliding button. The small clasp features a hallmarked silver element for locking. These mechanisms originally served as high quality closures for exclusive evening bags or cases. The collection is complemented by 4 further decorative elements intended as end pieces or applications for fabric or leather bags as well as for artistic caskets. One of these elements is finished in a noble gold tone while the others shine in silver. Some of the objects feature beautiful openwork filigree craftsmanship which gives them a special elegance.
For designers, seamstresses, restorers or artists, this set offers a rare opportunity to incorporate original historical components into new creations or to restore antique objects true to the original.
The dimensions of the clasps are approx. 3,5 x 10,5 cm and 3 x 3 cm while the other decorative elements range in size from approx. 2,3 x 3,2 mm to 2 x 8,5 cm. The objects are in authentic original condition with signs of wear and a beautiful patina corresponding to their age and date from the period of late Art Nouveau to Art Deco. On 4 of the decorative elements, the soldered wire pins are missing on the back. A wonderful set for collectors of Viennese silver and guilloche work and lovers of historical haberdashery that represents a stylish addition to any creative project or restoration.
