Products description

This extensive collection consists of a total of 13 individual parts that served as high quality fittings, plaques, or applications for caskets, bags, and decorative objects. The collection impresses with an enormous variety of techniques, including silver elements, finest filigree work, enamel, and detailed figurative depictions. A special highlight is a pair of oval silver plaques with a fineness of 935, featuring the Austrian hoopoe official hallmark and the maker's mark J.A. These show a masterfully executed scene with a variety of putti acting in a detailed landscape.

The range of motifs of the other figurines is remarkable and includes, among others, a circular, gold colored plaque depicting the Roman goddess Diana. In addition, there are various putto representations as well as a rectangular fitting with an erotic lady and a champagne bucket from the 20s to 30s, presumably a New Year's fitting. Technically interesting are 2 circular objects with blue and white enamel, where the center part with a gilded flower basket is designed to be interchangeable. The blue element shows age related chipping in the enamel, while 2 further large round silver works with floral filigree ornamentation complete the set. The reference photos document the condition and details of these extraordinary pieces.

The dimensions of the individual parts vary from approx. 2,5 x 2,5 cm to 4 x 5 cm. For the most part, the soldered wire pins are missing on the back. The objects are in an authentic original condition with signs of wear and a beautiful patina corresponding to their age and date from the period of late Art Nouveau to Art Deco. This collection is a first class source for restorers of historical accessories or designers who wish to integrate original Art Deco and Art Nouveau elements into new creations. The objects originate from an Austrian manufactory and reflect the high craftsmanship of the period after 1922.
