Products description
This diverse collection includes 9 antique objects that served as high quality decorative elements and fittings for bags, belts, or caskets. The collection is characterized by artistic enamel work in various techniques and colors. Included are 3 objects with orange brown, 2 with blue, one with white, and 3 parts with deep black enamel.
Particularly noteworthy is a blue bow shaped clasp, which is clearly hallmarked on the back with the silver content 935, Widehopf Hallmark, the designation of origin AUSTRIA, and the maker's mark J.A. (see photos). Another significant piece is a medium sized, openwork decorative element with black enamel, which stylistically perfectly matches historical mourning jewelry. This category also includes two angle shaped fittings with black surfaces and filigree decor, one of these pieces showing a small defect in the enamel (see photo).
The set also offers various end pieces and applications in different shapes, including a crescent shaped element with bright yellow orange guilloche and an oval medallion with white enamel. The dimensions of the individual parts vary from approx. 1,5 x 2,5 cm to 3 x 9 cm. The backs partly show fastening wires for mounting on fabric or leather, and on some parts, the soldered wire pins are missing from the back. The objects are in authentic original condition with signs of wear and a beautiful patina corresponding to their age and date from the period of late Art Nouveau to Art Deco.
This collection is a first class source for restorers of historical accessories or designers who wish to integrate original Art Deco and Art Nouveau elements into new creations. The objects originate from an Austrian manufactory and reflect the high craftsmanship of the period after 1922.
