Products description

Historical Binoculars / Opera Glasses Brass Leather, 19th Century, Circa Eleven by Twelve Centimeters, Very Good Mechanical Condition, High Quality

This pair of binoculars is a well-preserved piece of optical craftsmanship from the nineteenth century that impresses with its high-quality workmanship and good condition. Crafted from polished brass with an intact, encompassing leather casing, it combines aesthetic grace with solid engineering. The dimensions are eleven by twelve centimeters when closed. By turning the focus wheel, it reaches approximately thirteen point five by twelve centimeters. A special and high-quality detail is the extendable sun shield on the large optical lenses. When the telescope and the sun shield are fully extended, the binoculars reach a total length of fifteen point five by twelve centimeters, which underlines their functionality and elegance. The mechanism of the focus wheel, considering its great age, is in good, high-quality working order and can be operated smoothly. The optics of the lenses are also in good condition for an object of this age, although the typical age-related scratches are also present here. As with comparable antique pieces, the brass frame shows age-appropriate dents and signs of use.

Due to the good overall condition, these binoculars are not only an attractive collector's item and decorative element, but can of course still be actively used today to enjoy operas, concerts, or distant views stylishly and with a historical flair; signs of use commensurate with age.
