Antique Porcelain Modular Pipe, Mouthpiece Made of Horn, Wooden Stem and Metal Lid, around 1900 Rote Röserl Folk Song

This fantastic and exceptionally well-preserved antique modular pipe from the period around 1890 to 1910 is a rare collector's item of folk smoking culture from the Imperial era. The handcrafted pipe bowl made of white fired porcelain features a lovingly detailed motif of a couple in traditional folk attire set against an idyllic backdrop with a traditional alpine cattle drive on the front. On the side, the famous song lyrics are emblazoned in Old Austrian script: "Rote Röserl blaue Veigerl san die Wangerl wia die Äugerl Herzigs Diandl griaß di Gott gib mir a Busserl werd dabei nit rot".

The motif was applied using the traditional transfer technique and finely hand-retouched with colorful accents (partially hand-colored transfer print). The pipe bowl rests on an original porcelain moisture catch for condensate management, which seals perfectly via the historical gasket. The wooden stem impresses with its natural bark, while the mouthpiece was artfully shaped from genuine horn. The hunter's pipe is rounded off by the folding metal rain cover lid. The lid has detached and needs to be reattached with pipe putty. An impressive piece of Alpine history in excellent condition for demanding antique collectors. On the pipe bowl, there are remnants of the former pipe putty. Signs of wear corresponding to age; Dimensions: 25.5 cm length; the object is offered without a display.
