This impressive anatomical 3D teaching aid from the 1950s is an authentic witness to medical history and impresses with its scientific depth of detail. The model, titled "The Lung - The Human Respiratory System," was manufactured in Germany and shows the complex network of the human respiratory organs. The anatomical elements are modeled from high-quality plastic and firmly mounted on a stable wooden board. The authenticity of this piece is evidenced by 2 original stickers: one identifies the renowned German Hygiene Museum Dresden as the manufacturer, while the second sticker names the taxidermist F. Schottak from Amstetten in Lower Austria, who provided this model for the Austrian school system.
The teaching aid is constructed in 3 parts, with the 2 front lung lobes being removable. Beneath them, a filigree representation of the bronchi as well as the fine branches of the veins and arteries is revealed, which are additionally marked with small numbers for educational purposes. The trachea is also clearly highlighted in its characteristic structure. Please note that the central heart element is missing from this model, which however offers the advantage that the underlying vascular pathways and the bronchial tree are fully visible. An old school stamp is located on the back. With the dimensions of the wooden board at approx. 33.5 x 40 cm and the model itself at approx. 27.5 x 34 cm, this painted vintage object is a striking addition to any curated cabinet of curiosities or a stylish supplement for the rooms of a medical practice.
