Products description
This detailed anatomical model from the mid-20th century shows a precise section of the human upper abdomen. At the center is the pancreas with its characteristic head and body, embedded in the prominent C-loop of the duodenum. Particularly vivid are the bile ducts highlighted in green, as well as the large blue and red vascular stumps of the aorta and vena cava. The duodenum has been partially fenestrated. The model was crafted from a robust plastic and impresses with careful hand-painting that anatomically accurately distinguishes the complex structures of the glands and vessels.
The object presumably dates from the 1950s and is in very beautiful antique condition with an authentic patina. There is an opening on the underside, indicating that the model was originally mounted on a stand for medical instruction. With its compact dimensions of approx. 9 x 13 cm, this scientific exhibit represents an extraordinary addition to any curated cabinet of curiosities or serves as a subject-specific decorative object in a medical practice. An ideal piece for collectors who value the aesthetic representation of medical history. Small chips, dents, some superficial abrasion, old storage marks; overall beautiful original condition; signs of use appropriate for its age (see photos).
