Products description

This true-to-life medical teaching aid of the human ear is a fascinating collector's item from the 1950s. The anatomical model was manufactured by the renowned SOMSO company in Coburg (Bavaria), which is world-famous for its detailed and hand-painted teaching materials. The figure rests on a green plastic base bearing the distinctive SOMSO logo. The imprint "Made in W.-Germany" can be found on the underside, confirming the production period between 1950 and 1959. The model is made of SOMSOPLAST, a special robust plastic. The model shows the anatomy of the ear with a removable eardrum and the filigree ossicles. It is an original anatomy model for teaching purposes, originating from an old Austrian school archive. The piece consists of a total of 5 parts. Please note that the cover of the ossicles is missing, which however allows a view into the fine mechanics of the inner ear. With its dimensions of approx. 18.5 x 32 x 20 cm, this hand-painted vintage model is a great cabinet of curiosities object for collectors of medical antiquities or a decorative eye-catcher for a medical practice. Small chips, dents, some superficial abrasion, old storage marks; overall beautiful original condition; signs of use appropriate for its age (see photos).
