Products description

This true-to-life medical teaching aid of a human eye is a fascinating collector's item from the 1960s. The anatomical model was manufactured by the renowned SOMSO company in Coburg (Bavaria), which is world-famous for its detailed and painted teaching materials. The figure rests on a green base bearing the distinctive SOMSO logo. The model is made of a durable plastic and shows the anatomy of the eye in impressive detail. It is fully functional and can be disassembled into individual parts to make the internal processes and structures such as the vitreous body, the lens, the iris, and the retina visible. When disassembled, the cross-sections of the eye can be seen precisely. The lower outer half of the eyeball is fixed to the base. The model served as a pedagogical tool for the clear representation of eye anatomy and is still suitable for practical learning purposes today. Please note that the transparent parts of the model each have a small crack (see photos). Base ⌀ 12 cm; dimensions of the eye: approx. 10.5 x 11.5 cm. This vintage model is a great cabinet of curiosities object for collectors of medical antiquities or a decorative eye-catcher for a medical practice. Small chips, dents, some superficial abrasion, old storage marks; overall beautiful original condition; signs of use appropriate for its age (see photos).
