Commemorative glass ‘Emperor Franz Joseph I’ – Josef Inwald AG, approx. 1888–1916; Historic commemorative cup made of clear pressed glass with the image of Emperor Franz Joseph I in a medallion; beneath the portrait is the inscription ‘F. J. I.’ – difficult to read; manufactured by the long-established Josef Inwald AG, one of the leading glass manufacturers in the Austro-Hungarian monarchy. The finely ribbed glass with a circumferential dot structure probably dates from between 1888 and the end of the monarchy around 1916/18. It is documented in the Inwald price list of 1914. Originally, the glass was partially gilded, but today only subtle remnants remain on the emperor's portrait and minimal traces on the rim and base. The piece shows signs of wear consistent with its age, such as small scratches. An authentic collector's item from the late Habsburg era – ideal for lovers of historical glass art and Austro-Hungarian history. Josef Inwald AG, founded in 1862, produced at several locations in Bohemia and Vienna and was internationally renowned above all for its beautifully shaped pressed glassware.
