Products description
This elegant and expressive bust shows the young Empress Elisabeth (Sisi of Austria) in imperial grace. The motif is based on the famous youth and bridal portraits of the 1850s, which were shaped by the sculptor Johann von Halbig and contemporary court painters. The depiction impresses with the tiara set in her updo hair as well as the fine pearl necklace with a central flower. The 12 cm high bust was made of solid yellow cast metal in the 20th century and finished with a fine dark patina in a bronze look. The base bears the embossed lettering ELISABETH on the front.
Despite its compact size, the figure feels surprisingly heavy and valuable in the hand due to remaining molding sand inside the hollow interior. The surface shows a beautiful age-appropriate patina with a soft sheen on the raised areas. A fascinating portrait of the young Empress that keeps the elegance of the Austro-Hungarian Monarchy alive in a sophisticated collection. Signs of wear corresponding to age. The object is offered without a display.
