Large 18th / 19th century multan tile; Multan / Pakistan; decorated in turquoise and blue with geometrical ornaments, flowers on the edges on a cream-white background; reddish fragments, floral and ornamental decorations in the typical shades of blue (Kaashi Gari); a must have for every collector of Islamic art; Multan is one of the oldest cities in southern Punjab and has been world famous for handmade blue ceramics since the Mughal era; the typical “Blue Pottery”, also known as “Kaashi Gari” fragments, were introduced in Multan centuries ago by artisans; the different shapes, the use of branches and leaves and the wonderful richness of blue color in Kashi works is proof of the Persian influence; measurements: approx. 20,5 x 20,5 cm; traces of use according to age; broken in two and glued; Craquelée, damage and missing parts (see photos); provenance from the collection of the Frankfurt Ethnologica dealer „Thomas Morbe“ - Frankfurt am Main (Germany)
