Products description
Very rare copperplate engraving by James Ward R.A. (1769 London – 1859 Cheshunt). This original work by the well-known British animal and landscape painter depicts a lively scene at a poultry market in England. The copperplate engraving dates from the first half of the 19th century and captivates with its fine details and the typical lines of the engraving technique. The sheet is unframed and shows signs of age-related wear: there are foxing spots, significant yellowing and tears at the edges, which do not extend into the motif itself. In addition, slight shading from previous framing is visible (see photos). An authentic piece of English printmaking for collectors of rare originals. Dimensions of the image: approx. 39.5 × 52 cm, sheet size: approx. 50 × 63 cm.
